Equi-Acro

Equi-Acro is a Blue/Black level class focused on developing adaptability, transitions, and variations of movements in and around the handstand position.

Equi-Acro builds on the straight-line handstand developed in the Red-level Handstand class. At the Blue/Black level, the straight line is no longer the final goal, but the starting point. The focus shifts from simply establishing balance to exploring variations, transitions, and movement while maintaining structural integrity and control.

What you will work on:

Participants develop advanced handstand skills by:

  • exploring different variations of the straight-line handstand through changes in leg and arm positions;

  • learning controlled and dynamic transitions into and out of handstands, including rolls, rotations, and unconventional entries and exits;

  • developing movement patterns such as handstand walking, weight transfers, and rotations;

  • building strength and control through movements that raise and lower the body from the handstand position;

  • connecting positions and transitions into fluid sequences.

Each class combines targeted conditioning, technical drills, and active flexibility work to develop balance, strength, and control, with faster preparation and often minimal assistance.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 months of training in Handstand (Red level) or equivalent experience;

  • ability to hold a straight-line handstand for at least 5 seconds;

  • ability to find and apply basic postural alignment in a handstand;

  • ability to safely fall and exit a handstand without assistance;

  • willingness to explore new movement patterns based on an intuitive understanding of balance and body control.
